After 6 long months of going nowhere, we are about to embark on another mini adventure. Because of Covid-19 travel restrictions, going abroad is either downright impossible or difficult, costly and fraught with worries about PCR tests and quarantine. (We have absolute bargain Virgin Upper Class flights booked for South Africa end June which we are hoping we can reschedule for same time next year - we'd rather rebook than have a refund because I can't believe the price will ever be that low again.)
Anyway a few of weeks ago I saw a cheapo offer for 4 nights on the Isle of Skye and to my delight Ian readily agreed, so we've added in 2 nights near Fort William and booked flights to Inverness plus car hire with BA. And because the hotel was so cheap (hope it's not flea-ridden) I’ve also booked a little B&B for 1 night further up the island so that we can watch a sunset without a longish drive home.
Sadly though, I don't think the weather is going to play ball, but we're taking two large suitcases packed with wet weather vestments so we can be out in all weathers.
Despite promises to not book early morning flights, we'll still have to leave home about 0515 (just so we can make full use of the lounge) but at least it will be light and there are no planned closures of the M25.
